Description
Responsible for managing the Aquatics and Ride Operations Divisions. The Operations Manager will establish programs to achieve efficiency and responsiveness within the Operations Department. This position is responsible for developing and leading a high performing team, increasing financial sustainability through budget control & labor optimization, exceeding Guest expectations through maximization of uptime and throughput, property cleanliness aesthetic & achieving the highest levels of safety in the industry.
The ideal candidate should be adaptable to business needs, have the skill set and ability to perform administrative tasks but also work in the field, be adept to training a team and possess strong communication skills to maintain open lines of communication between departments within the property in addition to communications with State inspectors, vendors and other third parties.
Requirements
Lead, manage, coordinate and directly oversee the Operations Department; Including Aquatics and Ride Operations Divisions. Supervise, train and develop seasonal leadership employees within the Operations Department.
Ensure the safety of the property, including attractions, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and company codes, standards and procedures including, but not limited to; ADA, ASTM International, CDC, Department of Health, New Jersey Department of Labor, and Department of Community Affairs, OSHA, manufacturers and internal safety procedures.
Oversee the implementation and execution of Aquatics and Ride Operations training programs to achieve and reach compliance within industry standards. Write and refresh divisional training programs on an annual basis and ensure execution and compliance.
Assist with overall property Safety Training and direct weekly Safety Meetings.
Responsible for pre-season set-up (including benches, trash cans, restrooms, flags/banners and landscaping), maintaining park cleanliness, landscaping and basic facility maintenance (changing lightbulbs, hanging signs and painting) during the season and winterizing the park for the off-season.
Partner with the Human Resources to ensure divisions are well-staffed and properly trained. Responsible for establishing hiring requisition targets and communicating staffing needs to Human Resources.
Complete, maintain, verify and retain required documentation, ensuring all is up-to-date and accurate; Including pre-opening inspections, audits, closing checklists, training documentation, etc.
Maintain appropriate levels of supply inventory.
Respond to in-park situations and attraction down events; Observe and report park conditions to Maintenance as necessary for resolution, communicate trends and recommendations to resolve/mitigate.
Routinely perform as Rides on Duty, and Manager on Duty maintaining constant presence in the park.
Fluent in emergency and evacuation procedures for each attraction and the property.
Administrative responsibilities to include, but not be limited to, hiring, scheduling, coaching, payroll, inventory control, ordering & invoice processing, budgeting/forecasting, training program documentation, etc.
Develop, review and maintain budgets and forecasts in conjunction with the General Manager.
Establish goals and objectives for the Operations Department and track follow-through to ensure attainment.
Work closely with the Maintenance Department to maximize attraction safety, uptime and throughput on all attractions.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Management Teams of the property.
Other duties as needed and/or assigned by Management.
Minimum 5 years of senior supervisory experience required, preferably in an amusement park and waterpark environment.
Ability to build and maintain positive rapport with diverse group of individuals from all different backgrounds to accomplish goals and execute established programs through positive leadership influences.
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office required.
Strong written and verbal skills required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to efficiently manage time and work without direct supervision.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be available to travel occasionally.
Strong leadership, critical thinking, conflict resolution, crisis management, contract management, negotiation, and organizational skills. Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to manage administrative records and ensure compliance with local authorities having jurisdiction and governing bodies while maintaining high levels of confidentiality when required.
Ability to manage stressful situations and successfully work under pressure.
Ability to successfully pass a drug screen, credit check and background check.
